LPA provides a wide range of English-language services from its base in Cumbria. Proofreading, editing and copywriting are the core areas covered, but we also provide professional tuition, ghostwriting and support for self-publishers. Frankly, if you’ve got a problem with something you’re writing, LPA is here to resolve it for you.

We also understand that taking your ideas public can be a stressful process. At LPA we apply the same flexible but professional approach no matter what the scale or complexity of the task in question, from proofreading your college dissertation to ghostwriting your life story. With over twenty-five years’ experience and a first-class degree in English from Oxford, Alastair is ideally qualified to provide the help and guidance your project deserves. 

While trusting in our own expertise, we also appreciate that different people have different tastes. After listening carefully during an initial consultation we will accommodate your wishes as precisely as possible, whether you want correct, formal English or a more relaxed, colloquial style. If you aren’t sure which way to go, Alastair will recommend the most appropriate tone for your project. 

LPA is here to help with a variety of tasks, both linguistic and literary:

• The proofreading and editing of any source material, either digitally or from physical documents. 

• The copywriting of brochures, websites and other promotional materials for businesses. If you’ve started but don’t know how to finish, Alastair is able to join the project at any stage, right up until the final moments.

• Developing professional skills. Advanced tuition is available for professionals who feel their linguistic or compositional abilities could benefit from a certain degree of honing. Bespoke tutorials are provided on a one-to-one basis and take place via the internet under current circumstances. 

• Commissions and ghostwriting. LPA is also available for longer projects. Perhaps you need an author for a local history or a celebration of your company, society or school. Versatile and experienced, you will find Alastair personable and sympathetic to your requirements. Except in very particular circumstances, commissioned work can be attributed to either Alastair Clarke or your own name.
